Ski-alp at Passo del Branchino

From Bergamo, follow the Valseriana road towards Valbondione. Ardesio passed, turn left on the road (well signposted) leading up to Valcanale. From the town of Valcanale you can continue with the lorry, to dirt road, until Boccardi fraction. It continues until you pass on the right, a hotel; shortly after the road crosses the stream Acqualina to climb in the area of plant ski disused of Vaghetto and Alpe Piazza (one kilometer from the village). Leave the car in the square before the bridge: to the right is the large mule track immediately (sign) that goes into the woods. Also along the dirt road that runs through the beautiful fir forest, after 20 minutes you reach the cabin clearing Pianscuri (1292 m.s.l.m.). Shortly after, made a turn, it leaves the woods and you come out on the lawn where the Rifugio Alpe Court (1410 m.s.l.m.). From the refuge you descend a few meters and cross to the left in the direction of Lower Court hut (1428 m.s.l.m.). It is now looking to the south venturing into the grove and shortly after passing a creek, turn right towards the hut Neel Low (1559 m.s.l.m.) and the middle (1613 m.s.l.m.). Then up the valley with no set course to Lake Branchino (1784 m.s.l.m.) and slightly above the pace of the same name (1821 m.s.l.m.). Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing – Mount Grem

Nice long hike approachable with any type of snow, very popular with ski mountaineers. The only precaution is to not get close to the frames that form the last stretch to the top.From Bergamo climb the Valseriana and at Ponte Nossa turn left and follow the signs to Oneta. Exceeded Oneta reaching on the right the Plassa fraction. From the hamlet go towards northeastreaching a stable visible from the parking lot. Continue north along a path usually track that runs through a wooded strip, it will soon reach the Cascina Grumaldi (1907 m.s.l.m.). Continue in the ground always open to the north until you reach the Middle Baita (1447 m. S.l.m.) and then the Baita High (1631 m.s.l.m.). Bend to the left and go up the south west ridge that reaches the final ridge leading to the summit (2049 m.s.l.m.). The last stretch of the ridge is often characterized by the presence of large frames and should therefore path carefully.Along the way you will notice the large holes partially fenced. Are old lead and zinc mines abandoned for some years. Such mines accounted in the past for the inhabitants of one of the main work activities area.The descent is to be performed along the ascent route.

Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing – Baita alta d’Agnone

From the Seriana Valley road, follow to Valbondione / Gromo; Ardesio passed, at the dairy Paleni farm (before the town of Gromo), take the left road that leads to Valgoglio.Follow the road until you get to the Location Bortolotti (1142 m.s.l.m.), where you park the car. Here a bulletin board showing the path to follow to reach the Baita High of Agnone. The route starts along the cart track to the right of the board that goes up to Foppa and in Sant’Antonio, follow it for about 1 km untila deviation: going, you will soon reach St. Anthony, while turning left, continue for snowshoeing (see CAI 228). Here you can put on snowshoes. Soon the track entersin the woods and after a few minutes, near a bend on the right opens a passage of St. Anthony and the mountains of the Val Seriana. Still in the woods we continue the climb, at times made less tiring by the fund wrought by the passage of snowmobiles. After about 1 hour of walking you can see on the right a long hut colored wood. Coming out of the woods at about 1500m s.l.m one hand you can seethe top of Mount Pradella and Hut Giulia. On the other side, the Timogno barrier. It climbs guided by the trace of the buried small road until you reach the plateau that houses the Baita High d’Agnone, usually submerged in snow (1768 m.s.l.m.). The descent is to be performed along the ascent route.

Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing – Baite del Moschel

Starting from the village of Valzurio, the itinerary takes place first in the thick pine forest, to flow, to an altitude of 1200 m. s.l.m, on the wide pastures of Moschel, where the valley opens up and shows a harsh, wild surroundings, especially in the upper part.

From here you can admire the crown of some of the most beautiful limestone mountains of Bergamo, including the Presolana.

For should achieve Valzurio you must take the road of Valseriana up to Villa d’Ogna. Here take the detour to Oltressenda

High and reach Nasolino (746 m. S.l.m.), after which the road, closer and with a slightly downhill stretch, leading to the Valzurio village (813 m. S.l.m.). In case of excessive snow we recommend archeggiare to Nasolino; if you reach Valzurio, park your car in the square before the church. Worn snowshoes, you walk

along the road with hairpin turns and good slope, along the Valzurio: the right stream flows Ogna.

Ignoring some trails that are encountered along the way, it continues to rise, alternating stretches of uphill stretches more sweet and flat, now immersed in forests of beech and fir trees, now more open glades.

The road was built to the activities of barite mining, the last closed in the fifties of last century, located in the head of the valley. After about an hour and a half walk, you exit the forest and enters the basin where the huts of Möschel (1268m s.l.m.) from which you can admire the different peaks of the Bergamo: Pizzo della Presolana are located,

Monte Ferrante, Cima Timogno and Mount Avert.

The huts of Möschel you can, in about an hour, up the valley

up to Baita Low Pagherola (1504 m. s.l.m.), following the trail of the trail that becomes more pending, in a rich forest of fir trees above give way to larches. The descent is to be performed along the ascent route.

Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing – Pizzo Formico

Pizzo Formico rises to dominance of the Farno basin above Gandino from the south side and on the plateau of Clusone from the north side. Very popular in the winter by cross-country skiers offers, from its modest 1636 meters above sea level, an exceptional panorama, from west to east, to the Alpine range. From the state of Valseriana take the Gandino Valley up to the City of Gandino, proceed about Barzizza and, through the center of the village, follow the signs for Monte Farno. At the end of the road you can leave your car in designated parking areas (near a former mountain holiday camp). From here there is a paved road (trail CAI 542), winding between some holiday homes, it leads to Rifugio Monte Farno (1248 m.s, l.m.). Continue along the cart track, that with some hairpin turns allows you to gain height and take on the scenic plateau of the lawn. Take then, leaving the cart track, the easy path going up on the left door with an easy climb and quickly to the summit of Pizzo Formico (1636 m.s.l.m.). Here a great cross indicates the top. There is lowered then the Forcella Larga (1470 m.s.l.m.) with the remains of Ilaria Hut: from here you can see in the distance the Refuge Parafulmen (1536 m.s.l.m.) which is easily reached by climbing along the edges of the cross-country skiing. The refuge is also open in winter on weekends. The descent is to be performed along the ascent route.

Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing – Passo Campelli

Superb excursion departing from Schilpario (Loc. Fondi) to Passo Campelli. Take the state of Valseriana to the Presolana Pass. Reached Schilpario in Val di Scalve, continue along the road of snow Vivione, in the beautiful fir wood until it reaches locations Cimalbosco about over 1500 m altitude. Leave the car and take the dirt road, following the beaten snow track, to quickly reach the Rifugio Cimon della Bagozza (1600 m.s.l.m.) passing through the Alm Cimalbosco. From here follow the trail (CAI 417) of dirt track that, at first in the woods and then in the open valley of Campelli, leading to the Madonna and the Campelli Pass (1892 m.s.l.m.) going up shortcuts that cut the bends. Outside the wood, the panorama extends in all directions, north-east towards the mountains Champion and Sampler, south-east to the spectacle of the Bagozza Cimon (2409 m above sea level) of Mengol (2421 m) and the Baione Cima ( 2378 m asl), south-west to the Val di Scalve and Presolana (2521 m). On the way you pass the Malga Bassa Campelli (1640 m.s.l.m.) and, at the foot of the Sampler, the Malga Alta Campelli (1811 m.s.l.m.) from where you climb the Passo di Campelli (1889 m.s.l.m.). Keeping Up the view opens and goes to Val Camonica Adamello up, unmistakable with its characteristic shape, just to ‘capovia’ of the valley.The descent is to be performed along the ascent route.

Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing – Passo della Manina

This is an excursion that could be called “initiation” because of its length and the limited altitude. It’s a fairly simple path for those who are beginners. Departure is from Nona, last village of Vilminore Scalve, in Valbona, traveled by river Nembro and tax from the known Scalve Valley. To get to Nona follow signs for Coleraine and then Teveno, the small village is located along the road from Coleraine, Teveno and Vilminore Scalve. After parking you switch on the back of the church Ninth (1341 m.s.l.m.), taking soon after, on the left, a little road that goes in the direction of the already visible step of Manina.This road, the clear origin “mining”, up the valley with a constant slope allowing a pleasant snowshoe hike of about an hour interesting made from beautiful views of the northern slopes of Presolana and Mount Barbarossa whitewashed until late spring. Shortly before reaching the large building that housed the personnel engaged in the extraction, it turns left, passing the slender stream where it appears evident the zigzagging of the road which continues up to the pass.One last effort and you will reach the peak (1821 m.s.l.m.), welcomed by the church built in 1950 in honor of the “transition” did to the shoulder of the Pilgrim Mother. curious note are the two altars, one identical to the other, mirror, one facing the Valley of Scalve and the other towards the Seriana Valley, so took to express the will and faith of the villagers.
