The Cementificio Italcementi dominates with its big size eh municipality of Alzano Lombardo, impossible not to see the high ovens of 1883. Today the area hosts ALT – Art Work Territory, museum of contemporary art and not so far, the Cartiere Pigna, another concrete example of revitalization of an abandoned area thanks to Spazio FaSE.
In the neighbour of Albino we can find the Cotonificio Honegger-Spoerry, whose original structure of XIX century is still intact, anotther nineteenth-century cotton mill is the Valty-Wildy of Cene (now Texcene SpA).
There are also a lot of structures in Ponte Nossa and Villa d’Ogna. Finally, in Valbondione, the ovens in Gavazzo and, for people keen on walks, the hydroelecritc dam of Barbellino, realized at 1.8000 meters above sea level between 1917 and 1931. The bridge Valleggia between Rovetta and Songavazzo is another curiosity of twentieth-century engineering not to be missed, which rapresents one of the first bridges in reinforced concrete with a light structure in Europe.

Giovan Battista Moroni – Artistic Itineraries https://www.valseriana.eu/en/arte-e-cultura/giovan-battista-moroni-artistic-itineraries-2/ https://www.valseriana.eu/en/arte-e-cultura/giovan-battista-moroni-artistic-itineraries-2/#respond Thu, 19 Jan 2017 16:21:29 +0000 https://www.valseriana.eu/?post_type=arte&p=19204/ Among the numerous artists born in ValSeriana, the most famous is Giovan Battista Moroni, born in Albino around 1520. He wins the nobleness of his time with his portraits and he adorned numerous churches of the valley with his religious works of art.
The itinerary we propose starts from Albino, from the parish church of San Giuliano Martire and the paintings Crocifisso tra i santi Bernardino e Antonio da Padova (1573-75) e Trinità (1555). Nearby, in Bondo Petello, the parish church hosts the Madonna col Bambino in gloria e le sante Caterina d’Alessandria e Barbara.
Continuing to the route for the upper valley the visitor arrives in Fiorano al Serio where he can admire the polittico di San Giorgio in the parish church of San Giorgio Martire.
Dating from 1564 is the commission for the altarpiece Madonna col Bambino in trono e i ss. Pietro, Paolo e Giovanni Evangelista for the church of San Pietro in Parre.
Later but also worthy of admiration is the Madonna con il Bambino e i ss. Andrea e Pietro realized for the parish church of Fino del Monte.
Returning to Bergamo a compulsory stop is the church of Santi Sette Fratelli Martiri in Ranica which hosts a polyptych with the Battesimo di Cristo e il Crocifisso con la Vergine e Santi.

An innovative point of view is offered by Museo delle pietre coti (Mupic) of Nembro, placed in an old house of Bonorandi Family. Whereas Val Gandino proves its strong textile activity in Museo del tessile “Martinelli Ginetto” of Leffe (place in an ex-factory of ’60s) and the “ciodera” of Gandino, used always in textile field. For the upper ValSeriana, point of reference is the Museo Etnografico Alta ValSeriana (MEtA) of Ardesio, focalised on the themes of spinning and weaving of wool, on the work of woodsmen, charcoal-burners and miners. The Casa Museo di Piario and the Museo della cultura locale of Valbondione are different from the classic idea of museum, taken place in an atmosphere of home and authenticity. The local history of Val di Scalve is proved by the Museo Etnografico di Schilpario, located inside the old mill. To conclude we signal the Ecomuseo della Val Borlezza, with its interesting path dedicated to water mills and to the grinding.
