A challenging hike in the wild nature of the Val di Scalve, The Refuge is the highest of the Orobie and offers a spectacular panorama

A difficult hike in the wilderness of Val di Scalve, the refuge Tagliaferri, the highest of the Orobie mountains, is situated at thePass of Venano nell’alta Valle del Vò and from it there are spectacular panoramas. From Bergamo drive along the main road of the ValSeriana as far as the Passo della Presolana, then go down towards the Val di Scalve and follow the signs for Schilpario. After passing through Vilminore andVilmaggiore you arrive at Ronco. FromRonco di Schilpario (1,075m) take the mule track which goes up evenly along the valley del Vò. Near the waterfall ( a path on the right) the path curves up through a wood and proceeds keeping to the left side (topographically right). At 1,650m altitude (Venano di Mezzo) you cross a stream ( a wooden bridge) and you climb up more steeply to the plateau of Venano di Sopra(1,850m), which you must cross to pick up again the climb with the mule track, with a constant gradient and numerous curves until 2,202m altitude. From here you turn North and, with a gentler route, you arrive at therefuge Nani Tagliaferri (2,328m). With the same path you can again arrive at Ronco, for those instead, who are very fit we recommend taking the naturalistic trail Antonio Curò, reaching the lakes of Venerocolo, then the trail CAI 414, and return to Ronco.
