Albergo Ristorante K2 takes the name after a great passion: the mountain. It can be said that Zanga Pierangelo, the last manager of a family that takes care of the hotel for 5 generations, has really climbed some of the highest and most rugged peaks in the world alongside great climbers like Mario Curnis, Simone Moro, Mario Merelli, who in Bergamo are true idols for mountain lovers.
Following the expedition of 1983 that led to the summit of K2, Pierangelo decides to devote to one of the giants of the Earth that the hotel was renovating Albino, in a panoramic position.
Place on the Colle Gallo, at the confluence of the Valle del Lujo (Albino) and Valcavallina (Gaverina Terme), Albergo Ristorante K2 is near from the Sanctuary of Altino on the one hand and the Sanctuary Virgin Mary of Cyclists from the other. A popular area for athletes, especially cyclists, and those looking for a bit of relax just a few kilometers from the city.
The building, however, has a long history: located in an area of connection between the two valleys, at least since 1862 was a food point for pilgrims to the sanctuary and the travelers, an ancient “Frasca” in dialect local. Several expansions in the 60s and 70s of the twentieth century and more recent modernization works.
Next to Albergo K2 there is the family farm that produces all vegetables used in the restaurant kitchen, honey and flour.
